I have been to Alaska a few times and fished with the bears...a lot of bears. After the initial adjustment of them being very close, and me understanding to give them their space, it really never bothered me or made me that nervous. Well there was one incident , but that is a long story and I learned to always keep my brother between me and a bear. You quickly realize they can move very fast and they appear out of nowhere. In addition, the area I was in they see a lot of fisherman.
I am planning on a trip this summer where there are bears that don't really see a lot of fishermen. This has me thinking. I don't think bear spray would have phased this dude. Should be fun!
Holy. Crap. This is what the Japanese guy saw at Brooks before his amigo rescued him and his mud-filled waders.
ReplyDeleteGood grief that was funny! What a day. Of course, I can't laugh too much. Right before that, Jack got stuck in the muck, my rod was caught in the brush, an 800 lb. grizzly was about 30 ft away...and approaching. It was quite the show.
DeleteThat's funny. I don't think I've heard this story. 30 feet, huh?
ReplyDeleteAt least all the chinese guy had to do was duck cause he sure as heck couldnt have run, and I know none of the guides was gonna help him.
ReplyDeleteI can still see the look in that bears eyes, when i turned to look at him. I will never forget that look, and then wheb he licked his lips, i thought sure i was going to be part of his lunch.
