You could feel the weather change coming. You know the feeling. The air is heavy, sky is gray, you can feel the pressure change. These are always good days to be in the outdoors. Things happen on these days as the animals instincts feel it too...probably much better than us. If I had not gone fishing, it would have drove me crazy as every time I would have stepped outside, my mind would be telling me I should be standing in the river. While I was fishing today, I was thinking of why I like the feel of this type of weather. I then realized that I really don't like the feel of the weather so much but this exact type of weather fills my mind with wonderful memories of other days like this in my life. I relive those days in my mind while I am fishing. I don't forget the details of those days as this type of weather has always produced some of my greatest days in the outdoors.
I remember a day in a tree stand with an approaching storm when deer were in sight nearly all day. If I wasn't watching deer, I was watching the non-stop flight of geese overhead migrating south. There were memories of days in Alaska fishing Ugashik Narrows or Big Creek. There was an afternoon on a Colorado stream when an approaching storm had the air full of hatching BWO's.
Oh yeah, about this day. It did not disappoint. Something told me to go away from the small flies today so I tied on a big streamer. It felt like a big streamer day. It was just that and made for more memories to fill my mind on future days with approaching weather.
Two of the nicest browns.

Nice looking fish..and caught using my favorite method , streamers!
ReplyDeleteI think I remember that day in Colorado. The fish were nuts. After that day, I stay in the water when it starts to rain. No running to the truck.
